Forgiveness

Verse for the Day
17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"[d]says the Lord. 20On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."[e] 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. - Romans 12:17-21

How do you know when you have forgiven someone? Someone once said that forgiveness is knowing that the past could not have been any different. As Christians we must forgive our enemies because if not then we are not truly grateful for what Jesus did. The cross is forgiveness. We were enemies of God, and he forgave us. This then is how we should treat each other. Not to repay evil for evil, but good for evil. We are to pray for our enemies, and I guess eventually our hearts soften toward them. The hardest thing for me to refrain from doing is taking my revenge. God says that He will avenge according to how He sees fit. I need to trust Him and not my own agenda. If you think about it - please pray for me in this area.
