R*E*S*P*E*C*T

Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, 12so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
I REALLY like this verse. I wish I could honestly say that this is the epitome of how I live my life, but it's often not. I think what initially draws me to this verse is that I makes me feel that it is ok to be an independent person, but I don't think that this is ultimately what these verses are meaning. I just feel encouraged!
I think these verses are telling us how to gain the respect of others. That it is a process of life examples, self-control, and hard work over a period of time. I've heard people say that the Bible isn't applicable to today's daily life, but this is not true. This verse is a good example, I can't think of anyone who doesn't want to be respected.
